Job Description
Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh is a growing Orthodox Jewish day school serving students from Early Childhood through Grade 12 on the Yitzy Sutofsky Campus. We provide an exceptional Orthodox Jewish and general studies education in a warm, nurturing environment that prepares students to become thoughtful, accomplished, and committed members of the Jewish community and broader society. We are seeking an experienced, creative, and mission-driven Director of Marketing and Communications to lead the school’s strategic marketing, branding, institutional storytelling, and communications efforts. Working closely with the CEO, COO, Principal and Educational Director, and other administrators, this individual will strengthen Hillel Academy’s brand, support enrollment and fundraising, and communicate the school’s impact to families, donors, alumni, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership: Develop and execute an integrated strategy aligned with the school’s
mission, strategic priorities, enrollment goals, and fundraising objectives; safeguard the Hillel Academy brand and advise senior leadership on communications.
• Enrollment & Advancement Marketing: Create campaigns and materials that support student recruitment and retention, annual and capital fundraising, donor stewardship, alumni engagement, and major institutional initiatives.
• Institutional Storytelling & Community Engagement: Share compelling stories about students, faculty, alumni, Jewish life, academics, athletics, arts, STEM, and community service; strengthen relationships with families, donors, community partners, and media.
• Digital, Creative & Communications Oversight: Oversee the website, social media, email, print, video, photography, advertising, newsletters, press releases, event promotions, and branded materials; maintain consistent quality and messaging across platforms.
• Internal & Crisis Communications: Support clear internal communications and assist senior leadership with sensitive, urgent, or crisis-related messaging, talking points, parent notices, FAQs, and public statements.
• Analytics & Operations: Monitor engagement and campaign performance, manage communications budgets and vendors, and create systems that keep projects accurate, efficient, and on schedule.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, English, business, or a related field preferred.
• Professional experience in marketing, communications, branding, public relations, advancement communications, or a related field.
• Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, storytelling, project management, and strategic communications skills.
• Experience with websites, email marketing, social media, print materials, multimedia content, and integrated campaigns.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

• Independent school, Jewish communal, nonprofit, educational, or other mission-driven experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Orthodox Jewish practices, culture and values, Jewish day school education, and the Pittsburgh Jewish community required.
