Ascension Global Staffing & Executive Search is seeking a highly skilled Medical Malpractice Paralegal with a strong background in defense-side litigation.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience supporting attorneys in complex medical malpractice matters, from case inception through trial preparation. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can manage a high-volume caseload while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all deadlines and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with all phases of medical malpractice defense cases, including pre-litigation investigations, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Draft, organize, and file pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence.
- Manage case files, medical records, and evidence to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Coordinate with clients, healthcare providers, expert witnesses, and court personnel.
- Maintain and update case management databases and calendars for deadlines and hearings.
- Conduct legal research and prepare summaries or reports for attorney review.
- Support trial preparation, including exhibit organization, witness preparation, and courtroom logistics.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 + years of paralegal experience, preferably in defense-side medical malpractice.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and Florida rules of civil procedure (if applicable).
- Proficiency with case management software, e-filing systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Paralegal certification preferred (FRP, NALA, or equivalent).
