Job Description

Job Description
Build a Career That Moves Production

Join an apprenticeship designed to turn your potential into journeyman-level capability. You’ll rotate through core disciplines—electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics—while supporting mission-critical maintenance across an automotive plant.

The Mission

Boost reliability and minimize downtime by pairing classroom learning with real-world problem solving on CNC machinery, robotic welding cells, conveyors, stamping presses, and assembly lines.

How You’ll Contribute
  1. Stabilize operations: Execute and assist with scheduled PMs; help lead line-restart efforts to keep production on pace.
  2. Diagnose precisely: Under supervision, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults; replace wear items—bearings, belts, seals, filters, and lube fittings.
  3. Master controls basics: Support work on 120V/240V/480V power, VFDs, and control panels; use PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) to identify issues and perform minor program adjustments; read schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams.
  4. Execute mechanical work: Align, install, and remove components using proper hand/power tools; maintain hydraulic/pneumatic systems with pressure testing, hose changes, and valve tuning; assist with rigging and millwright tasks.
  5. Operate safely and document: Record accurate work orders in the CMMS; follow LOTO, confined space, and hot work procedures; participate in safety inspections, toolbox talks, and required training; sustain 5S standards.
Apprenticeship Framework
  • One day per week of classroom instruction integrated with hands-on learning.
  • Shadowing and mentorship from journeyman/master technicians across all maintenance disciplines.
  • On-time completion of apprenticeship hours and competency evaluations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Eligible for or enrolled in a registered apprenticeship (JATC, UAW-affiliated, or equivalent).
  • Foundational understanding of trades concepts; able to read basic prints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, with weekends and overtime as production demands.
  • Legal & screening: Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 lbs independently; team lift for heavier loads.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Comfort working in confined spaces, at heights, and in high-noise environments.
  • Consistent PPE use: safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, and hearing protection.
Technical Proficiency Targets
  • Electrical Troubleshooting; Equipment Diagnostics & Troubleshooting; Lockout/Tagout (LOTO); Equipment Installation & Wiring; Equipment Repair & Maintenance; Automotive Manufacturing Systems; Machine Safety Inspections.
  • Domain familiarity that stands out: headliner manufacturing, polybond, thermobond, waterjets.
  • Core technologies: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC); Conveyor Systems.

Bring your drive to learn and a safety-first mindset. Leave with the confidence and capability to maintain complex electromechanical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
