Precision Swiss Turning Programmer-Operator
Job Description
Belden Universal designs and manufactures high-precision universal joints and drive shaft assemblies for customers around the world. Your mastery of Swiss turning directly impacts quality, delivery, and the trust our customers place in our products.
What you will do- Translate work orders and blueprints into efficient machining plans—identify materials, datum/surface locations, and machining parameters; read and apply GD&T.
- Program, set up, and operate Star Swiss-type CNC lathes to achieve tight tolerances and repeatable results.
- Install and dial in tools; execute turning, drilling, grooving, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.
- Load stock and verify offsets via first-article, in-process, and sample checks to international standards.
- Maintain specifications by measuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing; adjust/reprogram controls; sharpen/replace worn tooling.
- Follow documented quality procedures and keep accurate production/quality logs.
- Protect uptime through preventive maintenance and adherence to manufacturer instructions and plant safety protocols.
- G-code programming proficiency for Swiss lathes (Star preferred).
- Strength in conceptual problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Clear verbal communication; strong functional/technical skills.
- Experience with controls, instrumentation, tooling, and coordination.
- Proficiency with CNC Tooling and CNC Programming; understanding of AS9100 practices.
- Star Swiss-type CNC lathes.
