MATERIAL HANDLER

Position Description

Shift: 2nd Shift
Pay Range: $18 – $20/hour + $2/hour 2nd shift premium

Purpose of the Job
The Material Handler is responsible for moving, storing, and supplying raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing facility to support efficient production flow. This role ensures materials are available where and when needed while maintaining accuracy, organization, and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility.
  2. Supply production areas with materials according to work orders and schedules.
  3. Load and unload materials manually or using material handling equipment.
  4. Verify materials for accuracy, damage, and proper identification.
  5. Stage materials for production, shipping, or storage as required.
  6. Maintain accurate inventory records and material movement documentation.
  7. Identify and report material shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
  8. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or carts safely (if certified).
  9. Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  10. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  11. Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  12. Collaborate with production, shipping, and receiving teams.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing preferred.
  3. Basic understanding of inventory control and material flow.
  4. Ability to follow work instructions and schedules.
  5. Forklift or material handling equipment experience preferred.
  6. Strong attention to detail and organization.
  7. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Physical Requirements
  1. Extensive standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Ability to move materials repeatedly throughout the shift.
  4. Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
Personal Protective Equipment
  1. Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe footwear, and any other required PPE are mandatory while working in manufacturing or warehouse areas.
Work Environment
  1. Continuous noise typical of a manufacturing environment.
  2. Exposure to dust, materials, and moving equipment.
  3. Woodworking manufacturing and warehouse setting.
  4. May experience hot, humid, or otherwise disagreeable conditions.
  5. Exposure to hazards where failure to exercise care could result in injury.
