We are searching for a Loan Operations Specialist to provide onsite support for a local financial institution. This position is contract with the potential to become permanent and pays $22 to $25 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the boarding and callback process for SBA, USDA, and commercial loans, including participation loans.
- Perform ongoing loan maintenance, process loan payments, and reconcile returned or non-posted items.
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly regulatory reports and remittances on schedule.
- Track collection expenses, vendor fees, and professional fees; reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Maintain properly documented loan ticklers throughout the servicing lifecycle.
- Organize and maintain original note files to meet retention and compliance standards.
- Support loan officers and lending staff by researching and resolving servicing inquiries and complex transaction issues.
- Deliver responsive customer service by phone, email, and in person, routing inquiries to the appropriate staff.
- Contribute to special projects by gathering data and preparing reports for leadership and audit needs.
- Cross-train across department functions to provide flexible backup coverage as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant financial services experience (4+ years).
- Working knowledge of financial institution operations and applicable state and federal banking compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
- Advanced math skills, including interest, commissions, ratios, percentages, and account reconciliation.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including drafting clear reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment on complex, non-standardized problems.
- Accurate keyboarding, spelling, and grammar skills.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, operate a computer and phone, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated track record of excellent customer service across phone, email, and in-person interactions.
