*Authorization to work in the US is required*This is a remote position with occasional travel to onsite location in Brooklyn, NY*Applicants residing within travel distance are preferred*Three references are requiredPOSITION OVERVIEW:The Sr IT Project Manager (PM) will serve as the primary point of contact for the operational support and enhancement of the New York City Department of Education's (DOE) Enterprise, Budgeting, and Vendor Applications systems. This role oversees all phases of complex, multi-workstream IT projects spanning budgeting, data systems, vendor portals, and enterprise application modernization.The PM is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, including planning, scheduling, risk management, quality assurance, team coordination, and stakeholder communication across DOE divisions. The individual ensures all deliverables meet DOE standards, comply with security protocols, and are executed on time within a multi-year program environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as the single point of contact for DOE regarding project status, risks, issues, and deliverablesDevelop and maintain a comprehensive Project Plan, including schedules, milestones, work assignments, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategiesLead day-to-day oversight of vendor personnel including weekly and monthly meetings and ensure staff continuity, quality, and performanceCoordinate across DOE stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technical teams to ensure alignment and timely decision-makingOversee all workstreams (Galaxy, Enterprise Applications, Vendor Portal Systems) and ensure deliverables are completed on time and meet DOE specifications, including security, accessibility, compliance, integration requirements, and system interoperabilityManage execution across Agile iterations, including sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinementFacilitate integration with existing DOE systems and ensure adherence to technical standards and cloud policiesMonitor project risks, scope changes, and issues and proactively identify potential delays, resource gaps, financial risks, and dependency conflicts; ensure formal escalation and mitigation processes are followedMaintain detailed documentation of decisions, meeting minutes, changes, and action itemsProduce weekly status reports and monthly steering committee updates summarizing accomplishments, risks, work forecasts, and schedule progressPrepare and deliver presentations to DOE leadership, stakeholders, and evaluation committees when requiredREQUIREMENTS:Experience10+ years of experience leading large-scale IT implementation projects, preferably in government, education, or public-sector environmentsDemonstrated success managing multi-year application modernization projects with complex integrationsExperience working with Agile methodologies, iterative release planning, and cross-functional teamsTechnical & Analytical SkillsStrong proficiency with MS Project, MS Visio, PowerPoint, JIRA and other project tracking toolsKnowledge of application development lifecycles, software engineering practices, and integration methodologiesFamiliarity with technologies used in DOE systems (.NET, SQL, Azure, cloud environments, CRM platforms, etc.)Ability to lead both functional and technical teams, including developers, analysts, and UI/UX staffStrong analytical skills for interpreting requirements, system constraints, and technical documentationExpertise in developing monitoring mechanisms, escalation protocols, and performance management strategiesKnowledge of public-sector security standards, data privacy rules, and DOE compliance policiesAbility to ensure adherence to Vendor Information Security Policies, Technical Standards, and Non-Functional RequirementsCertificationsPMP Certification is required Think Tank is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
