Job Description

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Accounting to lead accounting operations across a growing multi-brand healthcare services platform in New York. This executive leader will ensure financial integrity, compliance with US GAAP, robust internal controls, successful external audits, and scalable accounting processes driven by automation and technology.

This role suits an accounting leader who can operate at both the strategic and execution levels: owning the accuracy of financial results, building disciplined processes, developing people, partnering cross-functionally, and modernizing accounting operations.

Company Overview

Our organization is a national healthcare services platform with a growing portfolio of home care and healthcare brands across the United States. Within New York, our local operating platform manages several trusted, well-established home care brands serving tens of thousands of patients and families each year. The platform is built on deep community relationships, operational excellence, and a people-first culture.

Role Scope

The Director of Accounting will serve as a key finance leader for the New York brand portfolio, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, audit readiness, internal controls, and process improvement across multiple entities and brands. This leader will partner with the broader finance organization and local leaders across Finance, Operations, IT, Payroll, and Revenue Cycle Management to strengthen financial visibility, control discipline, and decision support.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting, Close, and Accounting Operations

  • Lead accounting operations and financial reporting across multiple entities and brands
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including close calendar management, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, complete, and compliant with US GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity through disciplined reconciliations, review processes, documentation standards, and timely issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and workflows that support consistent reporting across the platform

Audit, Compliance, and Internal Controls

  • Lead annual external audits, coordinate audit requests, prepare schedules, and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors
  • Strengthen internal controls, approval workflows, financial governance, and compliance practices across the organization
  • Monitor accounting policies and recommend improvements to reduce risk, improve audit readiness, and safeguard financial integrity

Process Improvement, Automation, and Systems

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, reduce manual work, improve reporting accuracy, and increase scalability
  • Lead accounting automation, ERP optimization, and financial systems improvement initiatives in partnership with Finance, IT, Operations, Payroll, and RCM
  • Standardize procedures, reporting packages, reconciliations, and documentation across entities and brands where appropriate

Leadership and Business Partnership

  • Develop, mentor, and retain a high-performing accounting team, fostering accountability, accuracy, service, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear roles, ownership, timelines, and performance expectations across the accounting function
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, IT, Payroll, RCM, and executive leadership to support strategic initiatives
  • Support integration of new entities, brands, or acquisitions as the New York platform continues to grow
  • Translate accounting insights into practical recommendations that support business decisions and operational excellence

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
  • 8-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a people leadership role
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and audit management
  • Proven experience leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Demonstrated ability to strengthen internal controls, improve accounting policies, and enhance financial governance
  • Experience leading external audits and managing auditor relationships
  • Track record of improving accounting processes through automation, systems optimization, and workflow redesign
  • Experience managing teams in a multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-brand environment
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and executive business partnering skills
  • Fluent Mandarin speaker

Preferred

  • Healthcare, home care, RCM, payroll-heavy, or regulated services industry experience
  • ERP implementation, system migration, or financial systems optimization experience
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, entity integrations, or rapid organizational growth

What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months

  • Improve the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of the monthly close process
  • Strengthen financial reporting, balance sheet review, and account reconciliation discipline
  • Lead the annual audit process with strong preparation and minimal disruption to the business
  • Implement process improvements that reduce manual work and increase scalability
  • Build stronger partnerships with Finance, Operations, Payroll, RCM, and business leadership
  • Develop a high-performing accounting team with clear ownership, accountability, and growth opportunities
