Personal Lines Account Manager

Position Summary:

We are seeking a customer-focused, detail-oriented Personal Lines Account Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing exceptional service throughout the policy lifecycle, including new business, renewals, policy changes, claims support, and account management. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and committed to delivering an outstanding client experience while maintaining strong relationships with insurance carrier partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of personal lines accounts by providing prompt, accurate, and professional service.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client records within the agency management system, including new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and policy updates.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and insurance carriers to secure appropriate coverage solutions and resolve policy-related issues.
  • Respond to client inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels with a high level of responsiveness and accuracy.
  • Review client accounts to identify opportunities for account rounding and additional coverage recommendations.
  • Conduct renewal reviews to ensure clients maintain appropriate coverage while identifying retention and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Assist clients with claims reporting and provide ongoing claims follow-up, demonstrating empathy and professionalism throughout the claims process.
  • Process policy changes and coverage requests while ensuring compliance with carrier underwriting guidelines and agency procedures.
  • Order renewals, obtain carrier approvals, and bind coverage prior to policy expiration.
  • Collaborate with agency staff, carrier representatives, and leadership to resolve client issues and improve service delivery.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and agency initiatives.
  • Assist with training new team members as needed.
  • Prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines and service expectations.
  • Follow agency policies, procedures, and documentation standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Active Michigan Property and Casualty License, or the ability to obtain the license upon hire
  • Minimum of 2 years of applicable Personal Lines insurance experience highly desired
  • Strong working knowledge of personal insurance products, coverages, carrier forms, and underwriting guidelines preferred
  • Experience working with multiple insurance carriers in an independent agency setting preferred
  • Proven ability to identify cross-selling and account rounding opportunities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with agency management systems, preferably Applied Epic or AMS360
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills with a client-first mindset
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism in all interactions
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
