Position Summary

The Pickleball Instructor is responsible for creating a fun, welcoming, organized, and instructional pickleball experience for players of all skill levels at Allstar Pizza & More.

This position will lead clinics, camps, private lessons, group instruction, and select open-play sessions while helping Allstar grow its pickleball programming.

The ideal instructor is knowledgeable about pickleball, communicates well with beginners and experienced players, and can create an environment that is both instructional and fun.

Primary Responsibilities

Clinics & Group Instruction

  • Lead Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced pickleball clinics.
  • Teach proper fundamentals, including:
    • Serving and returning
    • Dinking
    • Volleys
    • Groundstrokes
    • Third-shot drops
    • Court positioning
    • Shot selection
    • Doubles strategy
  • Adjust instruction based on player ability and experience.
  • Organize drills, games, and competitive activities.
  • Keep clinics moving efficiently and maximize player participation.
Private Lessons

  • Provide individual and small-group pickleball instruction.
  • Evaluate each player's strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Develop drills based on the player's goals and skill level.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Help players track their improvement over multiple lessons.
Camps & Special Programs

  • Assist with or lead pickleball camps and specialty programs.
  • Help develop programs for youth, adults, beginners, and experienced players.
  • Participate in special events, tournaments, leagues, and corporate pickleball programs when scheduled.
Open Play Support

  • Assist with designated pickleball open-play sessions.
  • Help organize players and court rotations when needed.
  • Encourage proper pickleball etiquette and sportsmanship.
  • Help new players understand rules, scoring, and basic gameplay.
  • Create a welcoming environment where guests of different skill levels feel comfortable participating.
Safety & Facility Standards

The instructor is responsible for helping maintain a safe playing environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting courts and equipment before programming begins.
  • Making sure players understand court boundaries and facility rules.
  • Maintaining appropriate spacing during drills and activities.
  • Reporting damaged equipment or facility concerns to leadership.
  • Ensuring pickleball equipment is properly collected and returned after each program.
  • Keeping courts and instructional areas organized.
  • Following all Allstar safety and guest-experience standards.
Guest Experience

Every instructor represents Allstar while interacting with players and families.

The Pickleball Instructor should:

  • Welcome players as they arrive.
  • Introduce themselves and explain the structure of the session.
  • Clearly communicate rules and expectations.
  • Encourage players throughout the session.
  • Be patient with beginners.
  • Maintain professionalism during competitive situations.
  • Help create an experience that encourages players to return for additional clinics, lessons, and events.
Program Development

The Pickleball Instructor may work with Allstar leadership to:

  • Recommend new clinics and programs.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional progressions.
  • Identify opportunities for leagues, tournaments, camps, and special events.
  • Recommend appropriate skill-level classifications.
  • Provide feedback on scheduling and court utilization.
  • Help grow participation within the local pickleball community.
Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:


  • Strong knowledge of pickleball rules, techniques, and strategy.
  • Previous pickleball playing experience.
  • Coaching, teaching, or sports-instruction experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, adults, and families.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Comfortable leading groups of different sizes and skill levels.
Formal pickleball instructor certification is preferred but not required, depending on experience.

Schedule

This is a flexible, program-based position.

Potential programming may include:

  • Morning clinics

Hours may vary depending on registrations, reservations, and program demand.

Compensation

Compensation may vary depending on the type of program being conducted, experience, certifications, attendance, and level of responsibility.

Employment Requirements

  • Must be dependable and maintain professional conduct while representing Allstar.
