Description

Safely operates heavy equipment to support Morgan Corp.’s heavy civil projects, including earthwork, grading, underground utility installation, site development, and demolition. Works collaboratively with the construction crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.


Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate one or more pieces of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, motor graders, scrapers, and off-road haul trucks.
  • Perform mass excavation, rough and finish grading, structural excavation, backfill, pavement base installation, and utility trench excavation.
  • Place, spread, and compact backfill materials in accordance with project specifications.
  • Read and interpret grade stakes, survey layout, and GPS grade control systems.
  • Perform grade checking and assist with layout activities as needed.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and report equipment deficiencies.
  • Work safely around underground utilities, other equipment, and personnel.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA, regulations, and project-specific requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with foremen, superintendents, and crew members to complete projects efficiently.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain assigned equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in required safety meetings and trainings.
  • Assist with general labor duties as needed.
  • Extended hours, overtime, weekends, and/or shifts may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous heavy equipment operating experience in heavy civil construction preferred.
  • Experience performing earthwork, grading, excavation, and underground utility construction preferred.,
  • Experience reading grade stakes, survey layouts, and GPS grade control systems preferred.
  • Prior OSHA or construction safety training is preferred.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Positions must follow Morgan Corp.'s Fit-for-Duty Physical Program.
  • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and/or night shifts as project schedules require.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and other environmental conditions common to heavy civil construction.
  • Strong commitment to Morgan Corp.'s safety policies, procedures and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt to changing job site conditions and limited supervision.

Work Environment:

Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. This position performs strenuous physical activity, for long periods, under varying and adverse field conditions. This position must be able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.
