Job Description
Position: Full-Time Campus Safety Officer
Reports to: Director of Campus Safety
Responsibilities:
%CF; Monitor and maintain safety and security on campus, including buildings, grounds, and entry points
%CF; Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, incidents, and safety concerns
%CF; Actively patrol the campus while on duty
%CF; Assist in emergency preparedness and response, including drills for fire, lockdown (ALICE), and severe weather
%CF; Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed
%CF; Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents while maintaining professional authority
%CF; Identify and report potential hazards or safety risks to administration
%CF; Maintain documentation and reports of incidents in a timely and accurate manner
%CF; Support faculty and staff in safety-related training and initiatives
%CF; Participate in school events to provide safety oversight as assigned
Educational:
%CF; Maintains current knowledge of school safety protocols, emergency procedures, and best practices
%CF; Work with Facilities Manager to ensure campus safety systems such as alarms, surveillance, and access controls are monitored and functional
%CF; Models professionalism at all times, reflecting the mission and values of the Academy
%CF; Provides guidance and oversight to students consistent with school safety and behavior policies
%CF; Supports staff in enforcing rules to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
%CF; Keeps administration informed of safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks
%CF; Assists with planning and coordinating safety programs and initiatives as directed
Administrative:
%CF; Completes and submits accurate incident and safety reports promptly
%CF; Responds to safety-related communications from faculty, staff, parents, or administration within 24 hours
Professional:
%CF; Participates in recommended training programs, seminars, courses, and other professional development opportunities related to safety and emergency response
%CF; Maintains required certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and AED
Qualifications:
%CF; High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
%CF; Three or more years of experience in school safety, law enforcement, military, or related field preferred
%CF; Prior experience working with children and adolescents preferred
%CF; Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
%CF; Strong communication and interpersonal skills
%CF; Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in emergencies
Hours:
Full-time Day Shift, with occasional requests to stay later due to special events. This position is limited to the academic year.
Compensation range: $24-$25 per hour depending on experience
