You will help shape the culture, build the team, create systems, and establish customer experience from the very beginning.If you are looking for a leadership role where you can grow professionally, make an impact, and be part of building something exciting in Massachusetts cannabis, we would love to meet you.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant General Manager helps develop and maintain a motivated team focused on customer service, education, and operational excellence.Responsibilities include:Supporting the opening and day-to-day operations of the Saugus locationHelping create a positive and accountable team cultureLeading by example on the sales floor and behind the scenesMaintaining a clean, organized, and professional facilitySupporting all departments including Front Desk, POS, Inventory, and ManagementAssisting with scheduling, morale, coaching, and employee developmentCommunicating company updates, promotions, and operational changes to staffSupporting inventory flow, transport coordination, and sanitation standardsUpholding Sanctuary's diversity, inclusion, and customer service standards in all leadership decisionsDuties & ResponsibilitiesOpen and close the store, including maintaining all required keys, codes, and operational proceduresSupport the successful launch and continued growth of the Saugus storeEnsure all safety, security, and compliance regulations are followed at all timesAssist with cash handling, reconciliation, audits, and product accountabilityHelp manage staff scheduling, workstation assignments, and daily floor operationsLead daily shift meetings to keep the team informed and preparedSupport onboarding, interviews, training, coaching, and disciplinary processesAssist in delivering employee performance evaluations alongside the General ManagerCoach and support employees while helping develop future leadersAssist with creating, updating, and enforcing SOPs and operational processesMaintain clear communication and reporting with the General ManagerEnsure all required state reporting and documentation is completed accurately and on timeSupport inventory management, cycle counts, vault organization, and inventory controlsMaintain accurate records for sales, returns, cash handling, and compliance activitiesStep into any role when needed to support store operationsHelp create a customer experience that is welcoming, educational, and memorableAssist with events, pop-ups, product education, vendor days, and store promotionsAttend and help lead manager and team meetingsWork a minimum of 40 to 45 hours per week in a fast-paced retail environmentWhat Makes Someone Successful in This RoleStrong leadership and communication skillsAbility to stay organized and focused in a fast-paced environmentComfortable multitasking and solving problems quicklyReliable, dependable, and team-orientedPositive attitude with the ability to motivate othersUnderstanding of both hospitality and compliance in cannabis retailWillingness to jump in wherever needed to support the team and customers Required Skills & AbilitiesUnderstanding of Massachusetts Medical and Adult-Use cannabis regulationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent time management and multitasking abilitiesAbility to work with urgency in a high-volume retail environmentExperience with POS systems and operational reportingMust be 21 years of age or olderMust pass all required background checks in accordance with CCC regulationsPreferred ExperienceBachelor's degree in business management or associate's degree in Retail or Restaurant Management preferredTwo years of management experience in retail, hospitality, food and beverage, or cannabisPrevious cannabis industry experience preferredExperience working in regulated industriesCash handling and reconciliation experienceOpening and closing operational experienceSpanish/English bilingual skills are a plusPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift at least 20 lbsAbility to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to work a minimum 9-hour shiftComfortable working in an active retail environmentAdditional Employment InformationThis position may require nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
