JOB SPECIFICATION: SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Reports to: VP, Engineering & Development
Classification: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Service Technician works as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product. This technician performs manual labor along a production line, operates and troubleshoots production, and performs repairs. The Service Technician needs to be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Comply with service and repair procedure and work instructions to test, repair, and clean returned devices from customers, completing the required fields on the Customer Complaint Form
- Test equipment and follow calibration procedure, using only calibrated devices for which the calibration date has not expired
- Place finished devices that have passed testing in an assigned area or add to shipping for immediate order fulfillment; place devices that have failed testing in an assigned Nonconformity area
- Execute the Nonconforming product procedure and nonconforming product rework work instruction to revamp the nonconforming product and complete nonconforming product log
- Follow procedure and work instructions to assemble new devices, resolving assembly production issues
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs, as needed
- Adhere to ESD control procedure and complete ESD wristband control log, as required
- Handle customer complaints and customer feedback according to department procedures
- Documents actions by completing production and quality forms and follows device history procedure to record data in device history record
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Completes training required by the VP, Engineering & Development and Director of Regulatory Affairs
- Assist with inventory and perform physical inventory counts, if requested
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & COMPENTENCIES:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 - 5 years’ experience manufacturing experience, assembling or repairing of electronics equipment, ensuring quality
- Soldering experience required
- Familiarity with personal computers
- Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English
- Demonstrates good judgement and decision-making skills
- Ability to work on-site 5 days/week
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Medical device manufacturing experience
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Lifting required on occasion, typically once every 2 to 5 months, with most items generally 10-15lbs and in rare cases up to 20lbs
- Ability to walk short distances during the day to and from other workstations
- Occasional keyboard use, up to 1/3 of the workday
- Ability to reach 1-6 feet for items on shelving units
- Repetitive hand usage via gripping and rotating wrists and fine manipulation of fingers for working with devices and small tools
