Our client, a growing regional Property & Casualty insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriter to join its team. This position is ideal for a market-driven underwriting professional who combines strong business judgment with creativity, critical thinking, and a commitment to building lasting agency relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, underwrite, quote, and bind new and renewal Commercial Property & Casualty business.
  • Evaluate exposures, coverage needs, pricing, and overall risk acceptability in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Review physical risk inspections, premium audits, loss information, and other underwriting documentation.
  • Respond to agent questions regarding coverage, eligibility, pricing, and underwriting appetite.
  • Educate agency partners on available products and underwriting requirements.
  • Provide timely service through phone, email, and other agency communications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective agency partners.
  • Conduct regular agency visits to strengthen relationships, discuss business opportunities, and support profitable growth.
  • Apply creative and practical thinking when evaluating unique or complex commercial risks.
  • Maintain accountability for the quality, profitability, and retention of assigned business.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Property & Casualty underwriting experience with an insurance carrier; or insurance agency.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverage, risk evaluation, and underwriting principles.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and make sound business decisions.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Associate degree preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Underwriters Rating Board forms is preferred but not required.

Salary & Benefits:

  • $80,000 – $100,000 base salary (depending on experience)
