Apex Placement & Consulting has partnered with a respected healthcare organization in Grand Rapids, Michigan, seeking experienced Cooks to join its culinary team. In this role, you will prepare high-quality meals for patients, families and employees while following established recipes, dietary requirements and food-safety standards.
The ideal candidate has previous cooking experience, understands quantity food preparation and is comfortable working in a healthcare or similarly structured food-service environment.

What Your Day Will Look Like
- Prepare meals according to standardized recipes, portion guidelines and presentation standards
- Follow diet orders and ensure meals meet individual dietary requirements
- Assist with meals for patients, families and employees
- Complete daily production worksheets and food-waste logs
- Taste completed meals to ensure quality and consistency
- Monitor hot and cold food temperatures throughout preparation and meal service
- Receive, inspect and properly store food products and supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary kitchen environment
- Report equipment issues, unsafe conditions and supply needs to management
- Follow all federal, state and local food-safety and sanitation requirements
- Assist with additional culinary department responsibilities as needed
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least two years of food and beverage or professional cooking experience preferred
- Previous food-service experience in a healthcare or dietary setting is a strong plus
- Knowledge of quantity food preparation, portioning and therapeutic diets preferred
- Ability to read and follow recipes, diet orders and work assignments
- Strong attention to food quality, safety and sanitation
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Patience and professionalism when interacting with patients, families and team members
- Willingness to work flexible hours when needed
- ServSafe certification preferred
