SBA Tennis & Pickleball is seeking positive and reliable pickleball coaches to lead after-school programs for elementary-school students in the South Bay Area.

Coaches introduce children to pickleball through simple instruction, movement activities, skill-building games and age-appropriate competition. We are looking for people who understand pickleball or another racquet sport and can create an energetic and welcoming environment for young beginners.

Schedule

  • Weekday afternoons, Monday–Friday
  • School start times range from approximately 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Most classes are approximately one hour
  • Work one or more afternoons based on your availability
  • Coaches may need additional time for setup, attendance and dismissal

Compensation

  • $60–$100 per class assignment
  • Final compensation depends on class length, location, experience and assignment responsibilities
  • Weekly payments
  • Opportunities for additional coaching assignments may be available

What you’ll do

  • Participate in training or shadowing before starting
  • Teach pickleball fundamentals using provided lesson plans
  • Introduce serving, returning, movement, volleys and basic game play
  • Manage groups of approximately 4–12 students
  • Keep children active, engaged and safe
  • Adjust drills and games for younger or beginner-level players
  • Transport and set up nets, paddles, balls and other equipment
  • Record attendance and supervise student dismissal
  • Communicate appropriately with families and school staff
  • Follow all company and school policies

What we’re looking for

  • Comfortable teaching and supervising elementary-school-aged children
  • Pickleball, tennis or other racquet-sport experience
  • Patient, friendly, enthusiastic and dependable
  • Strong communication and group-management skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to transport program equipment when necessary
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Willingness to complete a Live Scan background check

Preferred experience

  • Pickleball playing or coaching experience
  • Previous work with children
  • Teaching, camp, recreation or youth-program experience
  • Coaching certification is helpful but not required
