Job Description
The Bilingual Healthcare Customer Service Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients regarding medical billing questions, account balances, insurance concerns, and payment options. This individual will communicate fluently in both English and Spanish, ensuring patients clearly understand their financial responsibilities while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer inbound patient calls regarding medical bills, insurance claims, and account balances
- Assist Spanish-speaking and English-speaking patients with billing questions and payment inquiries
- Research patient accounts using billing systems and electronic medical records
Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
- 1 year of healthcare customer service, patient accounts, or medical billing experience
- Experience working for a physician group, hospital, medical billing company, or revenue cycle organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to de-escalate patient concerns with professionalism and empathy
- Strong computer skills and ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously
- High school diploma or GED required
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Epic, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, AdvancedMD, or other practice management systems
- Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid billing
- Previous call center experience
