Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and engaging VPK Teacher to lead our Voluntary Prekindergarten classroom. The VPK Teacher is responsible for implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes kindergarten readiness, supports social-emotional development, and encourages active learning through play and structured instruction.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong classroom leadership, creativity in lesson planning, and a commitment to helping children develop foundational academic and life skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum Implementation
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with VPK standards and early learning benchmarks.
Deliver engaging instruction that promotes literacy, math readiness, language development, and critical thinking skills.
Utilize diverse teaching strategies including hands-on learning, small group instruction, and guided play.
Create activities that support kindergarten readiness and school preparedness.
Provide individualized support to address each child's learning needs and developmental stage.
Monitor children's social, emotional, and cognitive growth throughout the program year.
Maintain accurate records of student development and learning milestones.
Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes exploration and creativity.
Guide children in developing positive behavior, self-regulation, and cooperative play.
Implement effective classroom management strategies that support emotional and behavioral growth.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing standards.
Build strong relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication and conferences.
Share updates on student progress, developmental milestones, and areas for growth.
Encourage family participation in classroom activities and learning initiatives.
Collaborate with fellow educators, directors, and support staff to enhance curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
Participate in professional development and training related to early childhood education and VPK standards.
Support center initiatives that promote high-quality early learning programs.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or equivalent (preferred)
VPK Endorsement or State VPK Credential (preferred or required depending on state regulations)
Previous experience working with preschool or prekindergarten children
Strong knowledge of early childhood development and kindergarten readiness skills
Ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young learners
