As the Group Exercise Coordinator, you'll help create engaging wellness experiences while supporting a team of instructors dedicated to making every class welcoming, safe, and inspiring.What You'll DoProgram Leadership & Fitness ExperienceCoordinate and oversee group exercise programming and class qualityLead safe, engaging, and motivating fitness classes for a variety of skill levelsSupport YMCA-approved class formats including Les Mills, MOSSA, and other wellness programsHelp maintain clean, organized, and welcoming fitness spacesEnsure equipment is used safely and maintained properlyTeam Support & Staff DevelopmentRecruit, onboard, train, schedule, and support group exercise instructorsFoster a positive and collaborative team cultureProvide coaching, feedback, and ongoing mentorship to instructorsEnsure staff maintain required certifications and YMCA training standardsPromote YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibilityMember Engagement & Customer ServiceCreate inclusive and encouraging class environmentsBuild strong relationships with members and participantsPromote YMCA programs and wellness opportunitiesDeliver exceptional customer service with professionalism and compassionSafety & AdministrationRespond appropriately to emergencies and follow YMCA safety proceduresConduct safety checks of fitness areas and equipmentMaintain first aid supplies and complete incident documentation when neededTrack attendance, maintain records, and assist with program reporting and budgetingQualificationsMust be at least 18 years oldStrong communication, leadership, and organizational skillsPassion for health, wellness, and community impactAbility to safely demonstrate exercises and assist participantsAbility to lift and move fitness equipment as neededYMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification required within 6 months of hireCPR/First Aid certification required within 60 days of hirePrevious fitness instruction or wellness leadership experience preferredBenefits That Support You12% YMCA retirement contributionFree YMCA membershipPaid Time Off (PTO)Health, dental, and vision insuranceDiscounted childcareOngoing training and development opportunitiesSupportive, mission-driven workplaceWhy Join the YMCA of the Black Hills?At the YMCA, you'll be part of a welcoming team dedicated to strengthening the community through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
