Fastest Labs of Glendale is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support drug-testing operations. This position handles biological specimens, performs routine testing procedures, maintains accurate records, and follows strict chain-of-custody, quality-control, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Receive, label, prepare, and process urine, oral-fluid, hair, or other biological specimens.
- Verify specimen information and maintain documented chain of custody.
- Perform screening tests using approved laboratory procedures and equipment.
- Prepare samples for confirmation testing when required.
- Enter test information and results accurately into the laboratory information system.
- Complete quality-control checks and document findings.
- Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Identify specimen discrepancies, invalid samples, and results requiring additional review.
- Maintain confidentiality of donor and testing information.
- Follow laboratory policies, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Manage testing supplies and notify supervisors when inventory needs replenishment.
- Assist with audits, proficiency testing, and other laboratory duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in laboratory science, biology, chemistry, or a related field preferred.
- Previous laboratory, specimen-processing, medical-testing, or drug-screening experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures consistently.
- Accurate data-entry and documentation skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Comfortable working with biological specimens and appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple samples without compromising accuracy.
- Familiarity with chain-of-custody procedures and laboratory quality standards is a plus.
