Automotive Sales Consultant
Job Description
Position Overview
On behalf of our client—a premier, high-volume automotive dealership serving Hattiesburg and the surrounding Pine Belt area—we are seeking a dynamic, customer-focused Automotive Sales Consultant.
In this direct-hire role, you will represent the dealership as the primary point of contact for local vehicle buyers, guiding them through vehicle selection, feature demonstrations, test drives, and financing options. Whether assisting local walk-in clients, military personnel, or regional online shoppers, you will deliver a welcoming, pressure-free experience. Our client offers an outstanding floor culture, extensive inventory, continuous factory training, and an aggressive commission structure with uncapped earning potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement & Consultation: Greet showroom visitors, respond promptly to assigned internet and phone leads, and evaluate customer needs to match them with the right vehicle from available inventory.
- Product Knowledge: Master the dealership's vehicle lineup, trim options, technology packages, and towing/towing-capacity specs to effectively demonstrate key features and value propositions.
- Test Drives & Walkarounds: Facilitate safe, informative test drives across Hattiesburg-area routes and conduct thorough vehicle walkarounds.
- Deal Structuring & Negotiation: Present transparent vehicle pricing, trade-in valuations, and financing/lease terms; partner with the Sales Manager to close deals ethically.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Hand off completed sales smoothly to the Finance & Insurance (F&I) team and coordinate with service/detailing for prompt vehicle delivery.
- CRM & Lead Management: Utilize the dealership CRM system to manage sales pipelines, log customer interactions, and maintain prompt follow-up schedules.
- Client Retention: Conduct post-delivery follow-ups and nurture client relationships across the Pine Belt to generate referrals and repeat business.
Candidate Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years of face-to-face sales, retail sales, or high-touch customer service experience (prior automotive sales experience is a strong plus, but top performers from retail, hospitality, wireless, or insurance sales are encouraged to apply).
- Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean, acceptable driving record (mandatory for test drives and moving inventory).
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication, strong negotiation ability, and comfortable with digital CRM tools.
- Schedule Availability: Ability to work a standard retail dealership schedule, including evenings and Saturdays (Dealership closed Sundays).
- Screening: Candidates must be willing to complete pre-employment background checks and drug screenings as required by the client.
What Our Client Offers
- Compensation: Competitive base/draw structure paired with an uncapped commission plan and monthly performance bonuses.
- Benefits: Full health, dental, and vision insurance options; 401(k) retirement plan with match.
- Career Growth: Clear advancement paths into F&I, Desk Manager, or Sales Management roles within the auto group.
- Perks: Ongoing factory certification programs, employee vehicle purchase discounts, and demo vehicle options for top producers.
