The field technician plays a crucial role within a medium-sized team of mechanics. This position involves extensive travel between sites and provides opportunities for advancement. The ideal candidate will specialize in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing commercial trucks, and/or heavy equipment and their related systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Each technician is provided a truck which can be taken home, and it is the technician's responsibility to ensure it stays professional and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain diesel engines and related mechanical systems
  • Perform hydraulic system maintenance and repairs
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform diagnostic testing
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns
  • Replace worn or damaged parts promptly and accurately
  • Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Document maintenance and repair work thoroughly
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in diesel mechanics
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in diesel engine repair, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools and preventive maintenance techniques
  • Knowledge of safety compliance and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Strong customer service and time management abilities
