Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Production Technician for our client in Portland, OR. The successful candidate will help the Production Technical Department develop, improve, and test chemical plant processes, products, and equipment.

Pay & Schedule

Pay: $24–$29/hr

Schedule: Day Shift: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

What You'll Do

  • Participate as a leader in developing, establishing, implementing, improving, and maintaining all processes and procedures related to manufacturing products safely and at the highest quality level.

  • Participate in the development of new chemical processes and projects from beginning (preparation of raw material) to end, and monitor and record processes and procedures.

  • Provide training and guidance to less experienced technicians and operators, and provide leadership on process improvements while working in a team environment.

  • Identify problems and troubleshoot chemical processing equipment (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic), and participate in adjustments to blend/titration systems.

  • Participate in and assist with preventive and corrective maintenance on chemical processing equipment, both within and outside of a clean room environment.

  • Review numerous reports daily to gain knowledge and understanding of issues.

  • Coordinate with Production Technical Technicians and the Production Department to minimize impacts on the production schedule, and assist with opening and closing various valves.

  • Develop, select, improve, and manage all parts, components, and materials that contact chemicals directly, such as pipes, hose lines, containers, filters, pumps, and valves.

  • Follow all applicable company and customer safety requirements, attend required safety training and meetings, actively participate in identifying and resolving safety issues, and lead by example to promote company-wide safety.

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or equivalent two-year college/technical school preferred, with one or more years of industry or similar work experience and electrical and/or mechanical coursework or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong math skills and coursework in chemistry (beginning to advanced).

  • Certified, or able to become certified, as a Hazardous Materials Technician per 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii).

  • Strong PC skills, with proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word) and the ability to read, interpret, and create documents.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.

  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards, HAZMAT training, and process safety control.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, management, other department members, vendors, suppliers, and customers.

  • Ability to work in personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirator and cleanroom gear as needed.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for long periods, and work in industrial environments.

Work Environment

This role is based in a chemical manufacturing plant where employees work with production equipment, blend and titration systems, and materials that require careful handling both inside and outside of a clean room environment. The environment involves exposure to chemicals, industrial equipment, and PPE requirements including respirators and cleanroom gear, and the work is physically active, involving standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
