Forklift Operator

Job description

Forklift Operator safely operates industrial vehicles to load, unload, stack, and move materials, products, or freight within a warehouse, production facility, or shipping yard. Primary duties include conducting daily equipment inspections, utilizing RF scanners for inventory tracking, adhering to OSHA safety regulations, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Material Handling: Load, unload, move, and stack products safely using sit-down/stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, or reach trucks.
• Inventory Control: Scan, weigh, and log incoming/outgoing materials, ensuring accurate documentation (bills of lading) and tracking in a warehouse management system (WMS).
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily, pre-shift safety checks on equipment (checking oil, tires, and battery) and report any damage or mechanical issues to supervisors.
• Safety Compliance: Strictly follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining secure loads.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience operating industrial trucks and material handling equipment.
• Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb onto/off equipment, and stand for long periods.

Physical Requirements

• Continuous standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to operate in, and adapt to, varying temperatures (e.g., freezers, loading docks).
