OneSparQ is looking for a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer for a military and defense company located in Geneva, OH. This role is ideal for someone who can own complex mechanical/system designs while also keeping projects moving through schedules, budgets, action items, and deliverables.
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering, systems design, or complex machine design experience
- Strong SolidWorks experience designing mechanical components, assemblies, and full systems
- Experience developing system architecture, concepts, block diagrams, schematics, and design layouts
- Ability to read customer specifications and develop estimates, quotes, or BOE documentation
- Strong project management skills, including tracking schedules, budgets, deliverables, quotes, and action items
- Ability to understand how mechanical, electrical, and control systems work together at a system level
Additional Skills:
- AutoCAD experience
- Sheet metal fabrication experience
- Defense industry experience
- Experience with heavy equipment, automation systems, robotics, HVAC/R, or other complex machinery
- Basic understanding of electrical schematics, relays, pumps, and controls
- MIL-STD experience
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of full mechanical systems from concept through completion
- Create system architecture, block diagrams, concepts, layouts, and schematics
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and complete products using SolidWorks
- Work cross-functionally with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and design teams to ensure the full system functions properly
- Support testing, troubleshooting, validation, and design improvements
- Review customer specifications and develop engineering estimates, quotes, and BOE documentation
- Manage project schedules, budgets, action items, design milestones, and deliverables
- Track project progress using tools such as Gantt charts and rolling action item lists
- Coordinate with vendors to gather quotes, technical information, and project inputs
- Help drive projects forward while remaining hands-on with mechanical design work
