Body Shop Technician - Summary

Repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.

Body Shop Technician - Essential Duties

  • Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to dealership standards.
  • Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are received.
  • Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
  • Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
  • Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
  • Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintains high level of productivity.
  • Initiates procedures to ensure a consistent high level of quality service.
  • Communicates additional repairs/parts needed to get authorization.
  • Gives accurate promised times and notifies shop foreman immediately of any changes or delays.
  • Monitors progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring that proper repair and safety procedures are followed.
  • Performs a quality-control check and inspects each vehicle after repairs are completed.
  • Meets with the body shop foreman daily to keep him/her informed of job status and any deviations that may have occurred.
  • Maintains facilities and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
  • Understands and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • These tasks include but are not limited to this list.

Over the years with more employees and more inventory, we needed a change; a big one at that. As of March 2020, Unique has sold 4,000 cars and counting! From humble beginnings to now a thriving dealership that handles both local and worldwide business, Unique continues to be the full-service specialty & classic car dealership leader of the Midwest. Come Spring 2020, we were finally able to stretch our legs and move to our new home of 50,000 sq ft!
