We're hiring a Primary Therapist in Johnston, IA to join Des Moines Wellness Center, a Quadrant Health Group facility. This role is open to both independently licensed clinicians and associate-level clinicians working toward independent licensure — we provide on-site clinical supervision for those still accruing hours.

Compensation: Full time 60K–90k, based on experience and licensure level

Statement of Purpose

Under the supervision of the Executive Clinical Director, the Therapist is responsible for completing biopsychosocial assessments, developing treatment plans, and conducting process groups and individual sessions with facility clients in person.

Eligible Licensure (must hold one):

  • Social Work: LMSW or LISW

  • Counseling: T-LMHC or LMHC

  • Substance Use Counseling: IAADC

  • Or equivalent licensure/certification as a Licensed Psychologist or Psychological Assistant

Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily treatment experience of assigned clients

  • Maintain assigned documentation within required timelines

  • Conduct assessments at admission and re-assessments as needed

  • Conduct mental status examinations

  • Provide treatment recommendations based on client history, signs, and symptoms

    • Provide individual, couple/family, and group psychotherapy as needed

  • Demonstrate respect for the cultural and lifestyle diversity of clients and staff

  • Provide crisis intervention services, including 5150 determinations

  • Complete treatment planning

  • Maintain current knowledge of legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues

Charting Requirements

  • Initial Treatment Plan complete and signed within required timelines; updates completed upon level-of-care changes

  • Biopsychosocial complete and signed within required timelines

  • Clients receive at least one individual session with their primary therapist weekly; notes logged within 24 hours, including documentation if a client was not seen and why

  • Group notes logged within 24 hours when clinician leads groups

  • Referent contact within 48 hours of case assignment, documented in the PHI tab; minimum weekly referent contact thereafter, documented

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related social science

  • Active state licensure or certification as one of the above (LMSW, LISW, T-LMHC, LMHC, IAADC), or licensure by the Board of Psychology as a Licensed Psychologist or Psychological Assistant

  • Minimum two years' experience evaluating and/or treating persons with mental illness and/or substance use disorders; prior supervisory experience preferred

  • Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen clearance required

  • Health screen required

  • Adequate computer skills for word processing duties; vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination adequate to perform job duties, including sitting at a desk, using a keyboard, writing, and moving about the facility to observe clients and staff
