Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $30.00–$40.00 per hour
Reports To: Casey Cope / Mechanic Supervisor
Job Summary
First Fleet Services is seeking an experienced Diesel & Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy-duty diesel engines, drivetrain systems, trucks, and heavy equipment.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on diesel repair experience and can complete major engine, transmission, clutch, and drivetrain repairs with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be dependable, motivated, safety-conscious, and knowledgeable in heavy-duty diesel diagnostics and repair.
Responsibilities
• Perform in-frame diesel engine overhauls, including teardown, inspection, measurement, component replacement, reassembly, and testing
• Replace injectors, fuel pumps, fuel lines, filters, and other fuel-system components
• Safely and efficiently remove and install complete engines, including swing motors
• Perform transmission removals, installations, swaps, and repairs
• Complete clutch replacements and diagnose and repair driveline components
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using service information, electronic diagnostic tools, and systematic troubleshooting procedures
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, fluid services, adjustments, and operational checks on trucks and heavy equipment
• Maintain accurate repair records and document findings and completed work
• Communicate additional repair needs and recommended repairs to the supervisor
• Follow all safety and operational procedures
• Maintain tools and equipment properly
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe
Qualifications
• Strong hands-on diesel engine repair experience required
• Ability to independently perform major engine, transmission, clutch, and drivetrain repairs with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, fuel, and electronic control-system problems
• Knowledge of service manuals, precision measuring tools, torque procedures, and heavy-duty shop equipment
• Valid driver's license required
• Dependable, motivated, and safety-conscious
• Strong communication skills and ability to clearly communicate repair findings
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Cummins, Detroit, CAT, Paccar, or similar diesel platforms
• Professional set of mechanic's tools
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required
• Experience with OEM diagnostic software and electronic service tools
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and work under or around equipment
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs regularly and use approved assistance for heavier items
• Comfortable working around running engines, heavy components, noise, heat, oil, grease, fuels, and cleaning products
• Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures
Compensation & Benefits
