Launch Printing and Promotions is seeking a dependable, friendly, and detail-oriented individual to assist customers with printing, signage, promotional products, and related services. This position will primarily involve customer service and order coordination but will also include training in basic graphic design, digital printing, and bindery operations.

The ideal candidate does not necessarily need previous printing experience but should be comfortable with computers, possess good communication skills, and be willing and able to learn new software, equipment, and production processes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in person and assist customers by telephone and email.
  • Listen carefully to customers’ needs and help them select appropriate printing products, paper stocks, quantities, finishing options, and turnaround times.
  • Prepare estimates, enter orders, collect job information, and ensure that instructions are complete and accurate.
  • Communicate pricing, production schedules, proofs, and order status to customers.
  • Follow up with customers when additional information, corrected files, proof approval, or payment is needed.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, job tickets, and production instructions.
  • Coordinate customer orders with graphic design, printing, bindery, mailing, signage, and other production departments.
  • Review completed work for accuracy, quality, quantity, and compliance with the customer’s instructions.
  • Contact customers when orders are ready and assist with pickup, delivery, payment, and invoicing.
  • Help resolve customer questions or concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the company’s printing, signage, promotional, mailing, and finishing services.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and professional customer service and production area.
  • Assist with other office and production duties as needed.

Basic Graphic Design and File-Preparation Responsibilities

The employee will be expected to learn and perform basic prepress and graphic design functions, including:

  • Opening and reviewing customer-supplied files for common printing problems.
  • Checking document size, orientation, resolution, margins, bleeds, color settings, fonts, and image quality.
  • Identifying files that may not reproduce properly and explaining concerns to customers.
  • Making minor customer-approved modifications, such as correcting text, resizing artwork, adjusting page dimensions, adding bleed, repositioning elements, or preparing files for production.
  • Creating simple business cards, flyers, forms, signs, banners, and other basic layouts using company templates.
  • Preparing print-ready PDF files and imposing jobs for digital production.
  • Producing and sending proofs for customer review and obtaining approval before production.
  • Maintaining organized electronic job files and following established naming and storage procedures.
  • Recognizing when a project requires the assistance of a more experienced graphic designer.

Printing and Bindery Responsibilities

With training, the employee will be expected to:

  • Operate digital color and black-and-white printing equipment.
  • Load paper, select appropriate print settings, and monitor jobs during production.
  • Perform basic quality checks for color, alignment, image quality, registration, and finishing accuracy.
  • Learn basic equipment maintenance procedures, such as loading supplies, clearing simple paper jams, and reporting service problems.
  • Operate bindery and finishing equipment, which may include paper cutters, folders, booklet makers, drills, laminators, coil or comb binding equipment, and other machinery.
  • Cut, fold, collate, staple, bind, laminate, package, and label completed jobs.
  • Follow all equipment operating procedures and safety requirements, particularly when operating powered paper cutters and other bindery machinery.
  • Keep work areas and equipment clean, organized, and properly supplied.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
  • Good spelling, grammar, basic math, and proofreading abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.
  • Willingness to accept instruction, ask questions, and learn unfamiliar tasks.
  • Ability to remain courteous and professional when addressing customer concerns.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move boxes of paper and completed materials, generally weighing up to 40–50 pounds.
  • Willingness to follow all workplace and equipment-safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is helpful but not necessarily required:

  • Previous customer service, retail, office, or print-shop experience.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or similar design software.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing PDF files for printing.
  • Basic understanding of printing terminology, paper types, bleeds, resolution, color, and finishing processes.
  • Experience operating digital printing, copying, wide-format, or bindery equipment.
  • Experience preparing estimates, processing payments, entering orders, or working with invoicing or job-management software.
