Program Director - North Star Academy, Newburgh
Job Description
The Boys & Girls Club Newburgh (BGCN) is seeking a full-time Program Director for its North Star Academy Day Care Center in Newburgh. This role focuses on leading a 4K early childhood education program with a rigorous academic component designed to improve student performance on New York State assessments and in the classroom. The Program Director will oversee program quality, staff performance, and student outcomes, ensuring compliance with all regulations while fostering a supportive environment for children under six.
Responsibilities
- Manage and implement a 4K Day Care Center with a strong academic focus
- Recruit students and engage parents through advisory councils
- Supervise, train, and evaluate a medium team of 6-15 staff and volunteers
- Monitor teacher and student progress toward academic improvement
- Coordinate student evaluations and teacher performance reviews
- Ensure compliance with OCFS, BGCN, and relevant regulations
- Coordinate subcontractor services and special programs or events
- Serve as a liaison to school and district administration
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years experience in early childhood program development and supervision
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field, plus teaching and supervisory experience in early childhood settings; OR equivalent credentials and experience as specified by New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential or CDA Credential pathways
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to manage staff and program operations professionally and energetically
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in curriculum development and project-based learning
- Strong background in early childhood education, youth development and classroom management
- Demonstrated ability in academic performance monitoring and program evaluation
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and reporting requirements, specifically OCFS 418 Regulations
