HVAC Service Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and Repair: Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, test circuit continuity, and replace defective parts like compressors or motors.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled tune-ups, clean coils, replace filters, and check refrigerant levels.
• System Testing: Calibrate thermostats, test pipe joints for leaks, and verify system operations meet local codes.
• Customer Communication: Explain repair options clearly, present cost estimates, and deliver great service.
• Documentation: Log parts used, time spent, and equipment serial numbers accurately via mobile software or paper invoices.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an HVAC Technical Training Program or trade apprenticeship.
• Certifications: Universal EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants; NATE certification is often preferred.
• Experience: 1 to 5+ years of hands-on residential, commercial, or industrial service experience.
• Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy parts, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces or extreme outdoor temperatures.
