Santa Monica Moderate/Severe Special Education teacher needed

Make a meaningful impact during the 2026–2027 school year in a specialized special education classroom serving students with moderate to severe/extensive support needs. This full-time contract opportunity offers placement in either an elementary classroom with strong paraprofessional support or a high school classroom serving medically fragile students.

Position Details

• Location: Santa Monica, CA
• School Year: August 17, 2026 – June 9, 2027
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Caseload Options

• Elementary Classroom: Approximately 10 students with multiple instructional assistants/paraprofessionals providing classroom support.
• High School Classroom: Serving medically fragile students in a specialized educational setting.

Qualifications

• Active California Education Specialist Credential in Moderate/Severe or Extensive Support Needs (ESN) required.
• Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities or medically fragile populations preferred.
• Knowledge of IEP development, behavior support strategies, and differentiated instruction.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals.
• Develop lesson plans, accommodations, and modifications to support student success.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate special education documentation.
• Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families.
• Foster a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
