Reports to: Director of Operational Accounting
Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
- 5-10+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably with people management (2-3 accountants)
- Proficient in excel
- Experience in a standard cost environment
Plusses:
- Experience with AS400
- Experience with PowerBi
- Experience overseeing cost accounting for multiple locations
- Any Accounting Certifications: CPA, CMA, CFA, etc. and/or MBA in Accounting
Day-to-Day:
A global manufacturing client of Insight Global is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team onsite in Jefferson, GA. This individual will lead the monthly close and yearly budgeting processes while overseeing two direct reports (Cost Accountants). Key responsibilities include managing inventory accounting, maintain and enhance the standard cost system, reconcile inventory-related general ledger accounts, maintain operational KPIs / metrics, and preparing journal entries and reports for the monthly financial close and operating book.
Additional responsibilities include generating backlog reports for management, developing monthly variance reports with commentaries, supporting financial planning and forecasting activities, and assisting with periodic physical inventory counts across multiple locations. This individual will play a critical role in financial reporting, forecasting, profit margin analysis, and providing insights to support business decision-making leveraging business intelligence software to support recommendations / business case.
This position offers a balance of hands-on execution and strategic contribution. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, thrives in an environment where processes may not be fully established, and proactively drives process improvements. They will bring forward new ideas, help build and refine processes, and serve as a key partner in strengthening the overall accounting and finance function.
