Special Education Teacher

Position Overview

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to support a school district in the Portland area. This full-time contract role is an opportunity to provide specialized instruction, develop meaningful IEP goals, and collaborate with a team of educators and related service professionals. The ideal candidate will bring a flexible, student-focused approach and a genuine commitment to helping learners with disabilities make academic and functional progress.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specially designed instruction aligned with individual student IEPs
• Plan lessons and modify curriculum to accommodate varied learning abilities
• Monitor academic and behavioral progress using classroom data and assessments
• Develop, review, and maintain compliant IEP documentation
• Work alongside general education teachers to facilitate inclusion and appropriate accommodations
• Collaborate with therapists, administrators, families, and other members of the student support team
• Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and parent conferences
• Establish a structured and encouraging classroom environment that promotes student independence

Qualifications

• Valid Oregon Special Education teaching license or appropriate authorization
• Appropriate endorsement for the grade level and student population served
• Working knowledge of IEP development and special education regulations
• Ability to satisfy applicable district onboarding and background requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
• Advanced coursework or graduate degree in Special Education is a plus

Experience

• Prior experience supporting students with disabilities in a K-12 environment preferred
• Experience with inclusion, resource, or self-contained programming is beneficial
• Newly licensed educators who meet Oregon requirements are encouraged to apply
