We are looking for an experienced Sr. Fund Accountant to join a Financial Services firm in Palo Alto, California on a Long-term Contract basis. This role will support core fund accounting activities across the close process, investment reporting, and financial analysis while partnering closely with the broader finance function. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring timely completion of close tasks.
• Support investment operations by tracking initial and follow-on investments and maintaining accurate related accounting records.
• Update capitalization schedules and assist with valuation support for portfolio companies using organized and well-documented analyses.
• Review quarterly fund financial statements prepared by external service providers and follow up on questions, corrections, and supporting details as needed.
• Consolidate financial information for subsidiaries and prepare supplemental schedules to support internal and external reporting needs.
• Monitor fund cash activity and help prepare recommendations related to capital calls, distributions, and overall liquidity planning.
• Develop quarterly portfolio review materials, including financial packages, trend reporting, and presentation content for stakeholders.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting reports for employee-related funds while also assisting with audit requests, tax support, and ad hoc research projects.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or completion of substantial accounting coursework.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with preference for backgrounds in venture capital, private equity, fund accounting, or fund operations.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
• Strong Excel capabilities, including the ability to work with large datasets, build reconciliations, and use tools such as pivot tables.
• Understanding of fund structures, investment activity, and financial reporting within an investment management environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly, stay organized, and manage competing deadlines in a collaborative team setting.
• Self-directed approach with a high level of ownership, adaptability, and commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
