Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract position supporting students in a Washington, DC school setting. This role is a strong fit for an educator who values individualized instruction, collaborative problem-solving, and meaningful student progress. The selected teacher will work alongside school staff and families to ensure students receive appropriate academic and functional support throughout the school year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs
  • Adapt lessons and classroom materials to accommodate varying learning needs
  • Establish clear academic and behavioral expectations within the classroom
  • Monitor student performance and use data to guide instructional decisions
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and related service professionals
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and student support planning
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and educational needs
  • Complete progress reports and other required special education documentation

Qualifications

  • Valid Washington, DC Special Education teaching credential or eligibility
  • Appropriate endorsement for the population and grade level being served
  • Familiarity with IEP development and special education regulations
  • Ability to satisfy applicable district and employment requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related discipline
  • Master's degree or additional special education coursework is preferred

Experience

  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities is preferred
  • Classroom experience in an inclusion, resource, or self-contained setting is beneficial
  • Qualified newly licensed teachers are encouraged to apply
