Job Description
Lisa Cole with Robert Half is currently looking for an experienced Controller to lead the company’s accounting function and provide reliable financial guidance to senior leadership for a company near the El Dorado Hills area. This position plays a central role in maintaining accurate reporting, strengthening financial controls, and delivering insights that support sustainable growth and sound decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, hands-on technical accounting expertise, and the ability to improve systems and processes in a project-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
• Direct day-to-day accounting activities across the general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, fixed assets, cash activity, and the full close process.
• Produce timely financial statements, management reports, and performance analysis that help executives evaluate business results and make informed decisions.
• Lead the annual budgeting cycle, ongoing forecasting, cash planning, and financial modeling to support operational and strategic priorities.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance practices aligned with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and tax partners, and oversee filings and reporting obligations at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Supervise project-based accounting activities, including job costing, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion reporting for operational workstreams.
• Serve as the primary accounting owner for QuickBooks Online and NetSuite, advancing automation, reporting capabilities, and process efficiency.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on profitability improvement, business performance, and growth-related initiatives, including potential acquisitions.
• Build, coach, and develop the accounting team while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the function.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; CPA, CMA, or an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least six years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of three years leading accounting teams or functions.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal control frameworks, and financial compliance standards.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasts, cash flow planning, and financial analysis in a business environment.
