This position is responsible for the day-to-day receiving, ordering, inventory, and upkeep of the Culinary Excellence Center (CEC) and other kitchen activities. The ideal candidate is highly articulate and intellectually curious, thriving in a fast-paced environment. Strong active listening, verbal, and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to present and discuss culinary and operational information with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Replenish products through proper buying procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Purchasing team to secure samples of newly developed products.
  • Ensure product orders are timely and accurate.
  • Process and organize all team product deliveries.
  • Review monthly production planning and adjust the buying plan accordingly.
  • Monitor product quality and freshness, ensuring proper rotation of products.
  • Utilize multiple systems to schedule delivery for necessary ingredients and products.
  • Procure items from stores if recipes' ingredients are unavailable from vendors.
  • Maintain all receiving and product trackers.
  • Assist with periodic inventory checks.
  • Support outgoing shipments and maintain relationships with delivery drivers and personnel.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and maintenance of the GTK building.
  • Organize and transport items needed for recipes for special events.
  • Support the culinary development team with products needed for development and testing.
  • Assist with data organization needs for the team.
  • Ensure compliance with established procedures, including health and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized working environment.
  • Report safety violations and hazards immediately, maintaining facility security.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2 years buying/receiving experience.
  • Basic food knowledge and interest.
  • Working knowledge of online ordering systems.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to team members.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures.
  • Proficiency in simple math and culinary conversions.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Basic knowledge of ingredient information and nutrition.
  • Comfortable with computer operating systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to learn photography basics and operate a camera.
  • Experience with high-volume production ordering and organization.
  • Desire to learn about natural and organic foods.
  • Ability to provide ideas and suggestions for team growth.
  • Good working knowledge of company policies, mission, and standards.

Work Environment

The role requires adherence to company dress code and PPE standards. The candidate must follow food safety and sanitation procedures. The work environment involves standing and walking for extended periods, repetitive use of hands and arms, exposure to varying temperatures, FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, continuous noise, and occasional loud noises. The role requires flexibility in schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, pallet jacks, and heavy machinery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
