Building Engineer
Job Summary
Responsible for operating and maintaining all building MEP and life-safety systems for our client's commercial properties.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily general maintenance and housekeeping for assigned buildings within our client's portfolio.
- Provide responsive, efficient service to tenants as part of a collaborative team.
- Respond to tenant work orders and complete tasks according to established service level standards.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems, including replacing HVAC filters and belts, changing light bulbs/ballasts, and performing minor plumbing repairs (e.g., flushometers).
- Coordinate with building vendors to ensure timely, high-quality work aligned with our client's standards.
- Perform periodic building inspections to confirm proper vendor servicing and maintain a clean, positive tenant environment.
- Communicate professionally with tenants while responding to work orders or working within leased premises.
- Maintain a professional image in all interactions with tenants, vendors, and colleagues.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
Qualifications
- Experience in general building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and other tasks related to commercial buildings.
- High school diploma and/or vocational training required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and professionally.
- Ability to excel in a team environment focused on quality and professionalism.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Building Engines or similar property management software, and building automation systems.
- Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stand, and stoop for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills with managers, engineers, vendors, and tenants.
- Demonstrated professionalism, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a track record of consistent achievement and career growth.
