Regional Director of Human Resources Consultant
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Regional Director of Human Resource Consultant to serve as the HR operations across a portfolio of skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) throughout Virginia and the District of Columbia. This role serves as the HR partner to facility administrators and executive leadership, ensuring each facility is staffed, compliant, and supported by strong HR practices. The ideal candidate combines healthcare/long-term care HR expertise with the ability to travel regularly between sites and drive consistency across a multi-facility region.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the HR contact for the skilled nursing facilities across the VA/DC region, providing hands-on guidance on employee relations, employee retention, and compliance.
Ensure full compliance with federal and state employment law, CMS/DOH regulations, and DC/VA state survey requirements as they relate to HR and staffing.
Oversee onboarding, orientation, and training programs across facilities to maintain consistency for new hires.
Manage employee relations investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations in partnership with facility leadership.
Monitor and improve staff turnover, engagement, and satisfaction metrics across the region; develop and execute retention initiatives.
Partner with facility Administrators and Directors of Nursing on staffing ratios, overtime management, and agency/contract labor reduction strategies.
Administer and communicate benefits, leave management (FMLA, ADA, worker's comp), and compensation programs consistently across sites.
Conduct regular facility visits across Virginia and D.C. to assess HR practices, culture, and compliance in person.
Support state health department, CMS, and other regulatory surveys/audits from an HR/personnel-file perspective.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2–3 years in a multi-site or regional HR role.
Prior experience in skilled nursing, long-term care required.
Must be experienced with VA Department of Health requirements. DC preferred but not required.
Strong working knowledge of employment law, FMLA/ADA, workers' compensation, and healthcare-specific labor regulations.
Demonstrated experience with employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.
Ability to travel regularly to facilities throughout Virginia and D.C. This is not a remote role.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
