Job Description

Senior Project Manager – Transportation (Civil Engineering)

Location: Temple, TX or Georgetown, TX

Job Type: Full-time, In-Person

Pay: $145,000–$175,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications

About the Opportunity

We are a well-established civil engineering firm with deep roots in central Texas, seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join our transportation team. This is a senior-level, high-autonomy role where you will lead complex transportation projects from planning through construction, manage and mentor a growing team of engineers and technicians, and serve as a key contributor to long-standing municipal client relationships.

This is an opportunity to step into a leadership position with a firm known for low turnover, exceptional culture, and a genuine commitment to the communities it serves.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage transportation projects from design through construction, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight
  • Mentor and manage design team members (EITs, entry-level PEs, CAD Technicians) across all project phases
  • Independently apply broad technical knowledge of transportation engineering principles, standards, and best practices — staying current with evolving regulations
  • Develop and review complete project documents for quality assurance and conformity
  • Coordinate permitting and approvals with agencies including TxDOT and local municipalities
  • Oversee construction phase tasks: site visits, submittal reviews, and progress meetings
  • Manage subconsultants and collaborate across internal engineering teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience in transportation/civil engineering
  • Active licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing detailed project drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to think critically and work independently
  • Demonstrated leadership and dependability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Municipal project experience in Texas (TxDOT, local cities)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $145,000–$175,000, commensurate with experience
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and prescription premiums paid for employee; portion covered for dependents
  • Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with 6% employer match, fully vested on Day 1
  • Annual bonus (paid in August)
  • Short- and long-term disability + basic life insurance at no cost to employee
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • Paid holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement and continuing education support
  • Professional association membership dues covered
  • Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
  • Partnership track available for motivated candidates interested in firm leadership

Why This Role

  • Join a firm with a 40+ year track record of municipal client relationships in central Texas
  • Work with a collaborative, close-knit transportation team
  • Stable, growth-oriented environment — this is an expansion role, not a backfill
  • A culture that celebrates wins, invests in people, and gives back to the community

Candidates must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to Temple, TX or Georgetown, TX prior to start. Texas PE license required; candidates with prior Texas experience and a transferable license will be considered.
