Job Description

Senior Project Manager, Landscape Construction & Development

Location: Hopkinton, MA
Reports to: Landscape Development Manager / Senior Vice President
Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Landscape Construction & Development (Confidential Search)

Company Overview

Our client's platform is ranked among North America's top 20 landscape service providers. Collectively, their partner companies bring more than 200 years of expert landscape maintenance, enhancement, construction, sweeping, portering and critical winter services with a reputation for excellence in client service.

Incumbent partner leaders guide day-to-day operations with teams that value and prioritize safety, employee wellbeing and dynamic career pathways.

Position Overview

Our client is hiring a Senior Project Manager to help lead their landscape development team through a period of growth. This person will run a book of the organization's largest and most complex construction projects while beginning to mentor newer Project Managers, helping the team scale as headcount is added.

This is a coordination and leadership focused role rather than a hands-on field position. The Senior Project Manager directs the work rather than performing it.

Key Responsibilities

Project Ownership & Financial Performance

  • Own a book of complex, higher-value construction projects spanning commercial, HOA, office park, and municipal landscape and hardscape work, including increasingly intricate scope such as structural hardscape, specialty materials, and granite.
  • Own job budgets and margin from bid handoff through final billing.
  • Track labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs against estimate.

Client & Subcontractor Management

  • Serve as the primary client-facing contact for owners, general contractors, and property managers on complex jobs.
  • Run progress meetings and manage change orders.
  • Lead subcontractor negotiations and scope management on higher-complexity hardscape work.

Team Coordination & Development

  • Coordinate Field Operations Managers and Crew Leaders across multiple simultaneous jobsites, with crews of three scaling to multiple crews on larger jobs.
  • Mentor and help train newer Project Managers, sharing knowledge on estimating, scheduling, subcontractor management, and client communication as the team grows.
  • Partner with the Landscape Development Manager on submittals, purchasing, and recruiting and hiring for the development team.

Safety, Compliance & Seasonal Operations

  • Own Dig Safe compliance, safety standards, and quality control across assigned projects.
  • Lead snow account operations and area management during winter months, including 24/7 availability during snow events.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven track record managing landscape and/or hardscape construction projects at increasing scope, complexity, and dollar value.
  • Experience negotiating with and holding subcontractors accountable on complex scope, including structural hardscape and specialty materials.
  • Comfortable owning job costing and margin performance, not just field execution.
  • Strong prioritization and time-management skills.
  • Availability to support snow operations during winter months.

Preferred

  • Experience mentoring, training, or developing junior team members.
  • Municipal, HOA, or office park project experience.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal Senior Project Manager is a builder-turned-leader who is comfortable owning both the numbers and the client relationship on high-value, complex work. This person coordinates rather than executes, holds subcontractors to scope without friction, and is ready to step into a mentorship role as the development team grows. Excellent attitude, high learning agility, and the ability to manage multiple moving jobsites at once are essential.

Why Join This Team?

This role is positioned to grow in scope and responsibility as our client's development team expands, with the opportunity to take on broader team leadership over time. Our client offers a challenging and rewarding work environment where employees are encouraged to develop and grow as professionals.

Benefits include:

  • Paid time off
  • Health and wellness coverage
  • 401(k) savings plan
  • Professional development opportunities
