Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution

This position may be based out of St. Louis, MO or Columbus, OH.

Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for leading transmission projects from concept through completion, with a focus on overhead transmission line design and execution. The role requires strong client-facing skills, project financial ownership, and the ability to manage interdisciplinary engineering and construction activities while driving highquality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage transmission projects from planning through closeout, including siting, permitting, engineering, estimating, project controls, procurement, construction coordination, and final turnover.
  • Build, maintain, and grow client relationships; support business development and participate in proposals and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, forecasting, scope, risk management, change management, and staffing.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring communication, alignment, and highquality delivery.
  • Develop and implement project execution plans, project controls, and QA/QC processes.
  • Report project status, including progress, cost metrics, schedule impacts, risks, and issues requiring leadership support.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and pursuit of repeat business.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in transmission & distribution or related engineering project management.
  • 3+ years managing transmission engineering projects (overhead design strongly preferred).
  • Experience with transmission design standards, including NESC and relevant industry codes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present complex information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project financials, forecasting, scope, schedules, contracts, and risk.
  • Proven success developing client relationships and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience delivering full lifecycle transmission projects, including engineering and construction coordination.
