The Screed Operator must be able to operate an Asphalt Paver Screed according to project specifications. Experience with a CAT 1055 or F model is highly preferred. The individual will be responsible for general service and maintaining equipment daily. The position requires the ability to travel statewide.PRIMARY DUTIESOperate paving screeds, rollers, pavers, Gannon tractor and front-end loaders to apply asphalt products efficiently to meet job specificationsPerform pre-shift inspections on equipment prior to startupStrong communication skills to have constant contact with other paving staff, drivers and laborersAssist in job layout and have a thorough understanding of how the job is being paved.Demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standardsOperate and maintain Screed Machines with little or no supervision. General housekeeping of equipment and plant daily along with general maintenance, repair, and service equipment as required or directed by supervisorMay set up and tear down equipmentMust wear proper attire at all times including safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable imageMust work outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions, including hot and cold temperaturesIndividual must be able to lift objects weighing 80 lb. on a regular basisThe use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, etc. to move material will be necessaryPerform all duties within safety guidelines set up by O.S.H.A. and company policyPerform other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTSApplicant must be at least 18 years oldHigh School Diploma or GED2 or more years of Screed Operator experienceValid driver's license and have a clean motor-vehicle record to meet company insurance guidelinesThis job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day, and balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areasHave knowledge of slope and grade controls.Have basic knowledge of screed designs and operations and basic principles of pavingWilling to work in a team environmentMust demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards Willing to travel to different job sites and projects statewideMechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenanceFisher Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.We are a drug-free work environment requiring pre-employment and random drug testing.
