Night Supervisor - Heavy Duty Mechanics

Job Purpose

• Supervise night mechanics

Schedule

• Sunday through Saturday morning 6:00 pm - 4:30 or 5:00 am
• 10 to 12 hour shifts

Job Duties

• Selects and assigns staff to shop jobs
• Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
• Ensures Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations are followed for the safety of all employees
• Oversees the overhauling and rebuilding of trucks, tractors, pumps, cranes, and other standard or specialized gasoline, diesel, and manually operated firefighting machinery and equipment
• Diagnoses difficult problems, recommends repairs, and determines if service will be completed by subordinate staff or vendors
• Inspects, tests, and adjusts equipment
• Supervises and participates in the fabrication and construction of specialized tools and equipment
• Prepares cost and material estimates
• Performs any task assigned to subordinate staff, consistent with any licensing or certification requirements
• Work along side of other employees
• Communicate with Shop Supervisor, Ray Salla

Requirements

• Six years of previous diesel mechanic experience
• Excellent ability to supervise a team
• Excellent ability to instruct and mentor a team of diesel mechanics
• Ability to monitor and evaluate problems
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent computer skills
