Sr. Estimator

A premier Fort Lauderdale general contractor is currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator here leads full preconstruction and estimating efforts for complex commercial, federal, and high-end residential projects. Responsibilities include managing conceptual budgets, performing thorough quantity takeoffs, analyzing subcontractor bids, and presenting Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposals.

Our client is a privately-held construction firm headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for over 25 years. Established and experienced General Contractor / Construction Management Firm serving selective markets, including High-End Residential, Private and Public Owners, and the Federal Government.

Key Requirements

• Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering combined with at least 5 to 10+ years of estimating experience on ground-up commercial projects.
• Local Knowledge: Deep understanding of the South Florida subcontractor market and pricing databases. [1]
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in modern estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Cost-X) and MS Excel. [1]
• Soft Skills: Ability to work under the pressure of hard bid deadlines, build relationships with architects and owners, and collaborate smoothly with project management teams.

Core Responsibilities

• Creating detailed, accurate quantity takeoffs for all trades.
• Reviewing project drawings, bid packages, and contract documents to identify potential risks and scopes of work.
• Developing conceptual budgets and value engineering solutions during the preconstruction phase.
• Managing the subcontractor and vendor bidding process, and leading bid evaluation reviews.
• Assisting with final presentation of estimates and proposals to project executives and clients.
