Florence Veterinary Clinic is looking for an experienced, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our busy small-animal practice.
We are a well-established, privately owned veterinary clinic serving dogs and cats in the Florence community. Our team works hard, supports one another, and takes pride in providing compassionate, personalized care while maintaining a high standard of medicine.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys being an active part of patient care and thrives in a busy veterinary environment.
What You'll Do
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will work closely with our veterinarians and technical team throughout the day. Responsibilities may include:
- Rooming patients and obtaining accurate histories and vital signs
- Assisting veterinarians during examinations and treatments
- Safe and compassionate patient handling and restraint
- Preparing and maintaining accurate medical records
- Collecting and preparing laboratory samples
- Running in-house laboratory testing
- Assisting with radiographs
- Preparing patients and treatment areas for procedures
- Assisting with surgical and dental procedures
- Monitoring and caring for hospitalized and recovering patients
- Preparing medications and treatments as directed
- Reviewing discharge instructions and communicating with clients
- Cleaning, disinfecting, stocking, and maintaining treatment and exam areas
- Helping wherever needed to keep patient care and clinic workflow moving
Who We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate:
- Has previous veterinary assistant or veterinary hospital experience
- Is comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments
- Has strong attention to detail
- Communicates clearly and professionally with clients and coworkers
- Can follow established protocols and medical instructions
- Is comfortable with computers and electronic medical records
- Can prioritize and shift gears when the day doesn't go according to plan
- Takes initiative instead of waiting to be told what needs to be done
- Is dependable and understands that the team relies on everyone being present and ready to work
- Accepts feedback professionally and wants to continue learning
- Is willing to help teammates regardless of whose patient or task it is
Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory equipment, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, radiology, or surgical assisting is a plus.
This position does not require CVT licensure.

Schedule
- Full-time position
- Monday through Friday
- Clinic hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- No regular weekend hours
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $–$ per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill level

Physical Requirements
Veterinary medicine is physical work. Applicants must be able to safely handle and restrain animals, spend much of the workday standing or moving, bend and kneel as needed, and assist with lifting or moving patients and equipment.
