Unloader

Job Summary

The Unloader is responsible for safely unloading vehicles from railcars (auto racks) and ensuring they are inspected, documented, and staged according to company procedures. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely unlock, secure, and open railcar doors.
• Drive vehicles off railcars carefully and efficiently.
• Inspect vehicles for damage and document any findings.
• Complete required inspection reports and paperwork accurately.
• Park and stage vehicles in designated lot locations.
• Follow all railroad, company, and safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
• Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles (preferred).
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders as needed.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent climbing of railcar ladders and platforms.
• Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Work Environment

• Outdoor rail yard setting.
• Exposure to moving vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Flexible schedule may include nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
