  • Pay $30-32/hr
  • 1st Shift, 7am-4pm, Monday-Friday
  • Long-term contract- client looks to convert
What’s a typical day as Automation Equipment Builder? You’ll be:
  • Independently assembling, debugging, and commissioning custom automation and packaging machinery from start to finish according to company standards.
  • Building electrical panels, performing full field wiring, and assembling mechanical stations and frames.
  • Reading, interpreting, and redlining 2D/3D mechanical drawings and electrical schematics; providing actionable feedback to engineering teams.
  • Assembling pneumatic, hydraulic, and motion control sub-assemblies including servo systems, VFDs, and linear actuators.
  • Leading debug efforts, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues independently.
  • Interfacing with PLC/control systems, reading ladder logic, jogging axes, and coordinating with controls engineers.
  • Performing intermediate fabrication tasks such as manual mill/lathe operations, welding, and plasma cutting.
  • Participating in design reviews, process improvements, and mentoring junior team members.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Have 4+ years of experience in custom automation/machine-building OR 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience in a similar environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently assemble complex custom machinery, both mechanically and electrically, from start to finish.
  • Are proficient in reading and interpreting 2D/3D mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Possess solid understanding of hand tools, power tools, and job-specific testing equipment.
  • Have intermediate fabrication skills including manual mill/lathe, welding, and plasma cutting.
  • Show strong attention to detail and a consistent track record of high-quality, accurate work.
  • Communicate effectively with leads, engineers, and management.
  • Have basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and company-specific software).
  • (Preferred) Are familiar with PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and able to read ladder logic.
  • Hold relevant technical certification.
